Workshop of Eye Gaze Applications - WEGA call for participation

We are proud to announce the 1st Workshop of Eye Gaze Applications in Human Computer Interaction, that will take place as part of the XV Brazilian Symposium of Human Factors in Computing Systems - IHC'16, to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from October 4 to 7th.

The Workshop aims to promote and encourage research and development of novel gaze-based applications and interaction techniques, as well as to explore potential uses of gaze information in HCI. We would like to bring together researchers, students and professionals interested in the use of gaze information in their application fields. We also want to create an environment to share new ideas, present ongoing projects, and also discuss the main challenges in this area. Examples of relevant topics are accessibility, rehabilitation, games, education, usability evaluation of interfaces, users' mental assessment, and eye movement analysis.

*** Paper submission ***

The Workshop will accept papers written in English or Portuguese with 4 to 6 pages long (including figures, tables, and references). The manuscripts should follow the SIGCHI Extended Abstract format (templates for preparing the manuscripts can be found here: https://github.com/sigchi/Document-Formats/tree/master/LaTeX and here: http://www.sigchi.org/publications/chipubform/sigchi-extended-abstracts-format-2016/at_download/file).

Manuscripts must present original research results as well as ongoing projects, and should be related (but not limited) to one of the following topics:

  • Gaze data analysis
  • Visual attention and eye movements control
  • Evaluation of eye trackers performance
  • Eye typing
  • Gaze-based applications
  • Interfaces for users studies with application in medicine, sports and others.
  • Data mining of gaze information
  • Methods and devices for eye tracking
  • Use of gaze information for interface evaluation
  • Use of gaze for digital games
  • Use of gaze to promote accessibility
  • Gaze-contingent displays and visualization

Manuscript submission should be made online through the JEMS system at https://submissoes.sbc.org.br/ihc2016_aplicacoesolharihc. Submissions should be completely anonymous and will receive at least 3 independent anonymous reviews. Accepted manuscripts will be presented either orally or in the form of a poster. In the notification of acceptance we will specify the presentation form for each accepted manuscript. At least 1 of the authors should register for the Workshop and present the work, to include it in the IHC'16 extended proceedings.

In addition to technical presentations, the Workshop will include invited talks, discussions, demonstrations of eye trackers, and gaze-based applications in HCI, among other activities.
